"Liverpool is a good club for a start, a first springboard for me," said the French striker.
"Michael is the best English striker and to play with him will be very flattering.
"We are complementary. He likes to play to feet and I like the spaces. The English style of play suits me as it is so quick."
The Auxerre man has also revealed that Real Madrid repeatedly tried unsuccessfully to sign him.
"Real approached me two years ago and repeated their offer last year. As there was no way of discussing it, they went to look elsewhere.
"But when you think of the people who are playing for Real, I would have taken a big risk by going there".
