With Michael Owen seemingly on the verge of a move to Real Madrid, Cisse is insistent his transfer will not damage Liverpool's chances of success this season.
He said: "You cannot be shocked by anything - I don't think I have been over this. I don't really know about other people's problems at the club.
"All I can do is try and do my best when I am given the chance. It's difficult for me to comment on Michael as I've only just arrived here.
"I haven't spoken to him about what's happening. We've heard the rumours about his future but we don't know anything for certain.
"Of course Michael is a huge figure at this club. He is synonymous with Liverpool and when I signed I knew he was here and was looking forward to playing with him.
"People may have thought that when I joined the front line was certain to be me and Michael. But when you sign for a big club - particularly one as big as Liverpool - you can't be sure of anything.
"All we can do is concentrate on doing our best for the club. We want to do as well as we can in the Premiership and go as far as we can in the Champions League. Who knows what we might achieve?"
