Cisse will join Marseille on a season long loan with the option of a permanent move once he's proved his fitness. However, the striker says he would be happy to remain at Liverpool only he is being forced out by Rafael Benitez.

"I don't want to leave Anfield but I have no alternative but to try to find another club at least for now. So I have agreed to go to Marseille in October when I am fit again, but only on loan," said Cisse.

"I want the Liverpool fans to know the truth. They have made me so welcome and been very supportive. I want them to know it is not my choice to leave Liverpool."

"It makes me laugh how people twist what I say when I speak. I always said I supported Marseille as a kid, but it doesn't mean I'm desperate to go there.

"The manager has also said that Real Madrid is in his heart, but that doesn't mean he wants to leave.

"If I had the choice I'd stay at Liverpool for a long time. But I guess I don't have that choice."
