The French international is a long-term target for Liverpool but any move for him may depend upon the Reds qualifying for the Champions League. Gerard Houllier is also sure to face competition from Arsenal and Manchester United if he steps up his interest in the talented 21 year old.

Cisse, in an interview with France Football, said: "It is the English Premiership that attracts me the most, simply because this is where the heart of European football is beating, where it vibrates the most. And I want to experience the atmosphere and the warmth of English stadiums.

"The Premiership is everything for me, the English style attracts me and I think that is the one that corresponds to me the most.

"There are spaces and the game is direct. For a striker like me who is fast, for my profile, this is perfect. I am an instinctive player.

"I spoke about it with Sylvain Wiltord, Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira and it sounds like paradise there."
