The French striker, who has been strongly linked with a move out of Anfield in the summer, insists he wants to stay.

"My future is already settled," he said. "I still have three years remaining on my contract at Liverpool and my future, before anything, I imagine it will be here.

"Liverpool didn't want to let me leave for Marseille last winter and people have to understand it, Tottenham also showed interest too and Liverpool refused once again.

"I have stayed and fought, and I have took it on. I didn't want to leave after one year. That would have really been a failure.

"I am happy with my last season here, I have scored 18 goals with the club and even if I played on the right side, I think it is a good season.

"The most exciting aspect is above all my number of goals, which is almost superior to my number of starting games.

"I have played in two or three different positions, so now I am a little more versatile - I defend a little better, even if there is still a lot of work to do and I have also improved my crosses."
