Injury-hit midfielder David Mannix, who was handed a three-year contract by the club in the summer, made a long-awaited return after several months on the sidelines.
"We are going to have to take things slowly with David. I think he tried to come back too quickly this season and it has set him back," said coach John Owens.
"I will try and give him 45 minutes here and there and ease him back to match fitness.
"Overall it was disappointing to lose 2-1 at Manchester City and their winning goal was a free header after a bad defensive error from us."
