Clarke, Jose Mourinho's number 2 at Chelsea, has joined the Reds as first team coach. His appointment means Mike Kelly will leave the club. Sammy Lee keeps his position as assistant manager.
"Steve is a great addition to our backroom team and I'm delighted we've been able to bring him into the club," said King Kenny.
"I am looking forward to working with Steve alongside Sammy and our other technical staff."
