Contract negotiations concluded

As revealed by the Insider recently, Liverpool defender Stephen Wright has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2005.

A host of clubs were chasing him, or at least that's what his agent told the Liverpool board, and his contract was due to expire this summer.

The negotiations started to become a bit of a farce and some at the club couldn't believe that the youngster, who has made his way though the ranks and at one point looked likely to be dumped on the football scrap-heap, was stalling on the club's offers.

However, there is no doubting Wright's ability. He's forced his way into the first-team and put in some fine displays, so in reality, he's certainly worth keeping hold of, especially with Markus Babbel's problems keeping him out of the side.
