Crewe want Mellor

Mellor had agreed a season long loan move to Crewe in the Summer, but when Gerard Houllier was sacked and Rafael Benitez brought in Mellor decided to remain at Anfield to impress the new manager.

Unfortunately for Mellor he was injured in one of the Reds' first pre-season training sessions and missed out on all the pre-season friendlies.
