Crouch ready to be supersub

Peter Crouch could find himself dropped to the subsitutes bench when Wayne Rooney recovers from injury. However, the Liverpool striker believes he can have a big impact as a sub.

"When you come off the bench you're always trying to make as big an impact as possible - and scoring goals is the biggest impact you can have," said Crouch.

"I've been able to do that in the Hungary game and getting a hat-trick against Jamaica stood me in good stead to start the first game.

"That was important and I thoroughly enjoyed that. I just want to go on from here."

He added: "It's important to have Wayne back. The fact that the manager has named him in his squad shows he was always confident he would be fit.

"He's looking fit in training now and it's important we have him back because he's a top-class player.

"We need everyone fit if we're going to do as well as we can in the World Cup."
