Pardew said: "His chances have been limited and he's been injured but he could well feature on Saturday and while we're in the competition I've said to him it's got to be better to stay here.
"He's a bit frustrated and I don't want to be unfair to him. I've had a chat with Gerard Houllier about him.
"Maybe if we go out of the cup that situation will change and it will be better for him to go back to Liverpool because we've got a glut of strikers here."
