But Curbishley is adament that Liverpool aren't out of the title race yet, and says that whoever wins the title will have to be at their best.
He said: ""It was only a month ago that Arsenal did not win for four games and then when Manchester United came here, and luckily beat us to be fair, they were out of it.
"At the time we were apparently going for relegation because we lost four on the spin.
"It's a real tough league, the toughest that we have been involved in and you can't take any game for granted."
"Whoever does go on and claim the title will really have to win it."
