Curbishley on Champions League charge

The Addicks earnt a well-deserved win at Anfield on their last away trip, and the highly-rated Curbishley knows that his dream of hosting Champions League football at the Valley next eason could well be realised if he led his men to another huge win.

Curbishley said: "It's a tough ask to win at Old Trafford but doing that would set us up nicely. No-one seems to want to take hold of fourth and pull away.

"All the teams next to each other got a point at the weekend. Liverpool drew with Fulham, we drew with Birmingham and Aston Villa drew with Newcastle. I think it'll go right to the last game of the season so wins are vitally important.

"The atmosphere with 68,000 people inside Old Trafford is something to behold. But the key to our win at Anfield was being difficult to break down, which silenced the crowd. It was the quietest I've ever known Anfield and if we can do the same at Old Trafford and have our 1,000 fans cheering us that would help. If you get anything at Old Trafford your confidence goes sky high."
