Dalglish praises Moores for his support

Speaking at the club's AGM this week Moores put his job on the line in support of his manager.

Dalglish, who played and managed under Moores during his time at Liverpool, was full of admiration for the man.

"We live in a world in which chairmen often point the finger firmly in the faces of the managers when clubs go through difficult times," he said.

"But here is one who takes the responsibility firmly on his own shoulders with the words: 'The buck stops with me.'

"Those words are manna from heaven if you are a soccer boss.

"You don't get many chairmen at the highest level offering that kind of unselfish personal support. He has been 100 per cent supportive of the managers who have served under him.

"When he has had to act he has done so, but Liverpool bosses have been able to trust and understand an individual who loves the club.

"For someone who is such a strong financial person to be modest enough to be a true supporter speaks volumes for the man.

"I know Gerard Houllier respects the way his chairman works. If you have the total support of the man at the top and it is genuine, it's a tremendous thing."
