Damiano hails Reds display

The Frenchman, who will be leaving the London club in the summer, felt that only the fine performance of goalkeeper Maik Taylor kept the score-line respectable.

Damiano said: "We played a great team and they played well and deserved to win. They could have scored more if it wasn't for our goalkeeper Maik Taylor but - it sounds strange we could have snatched a draw. But they were worth it.

"We tried to play good football, but it is difficult to do that when you come to a place like Anfield."
