Frank De Boer has revealed the reason why he turned down Liverpool in 2012 and why he now wants a job in the Premier League.

“I would love to manage here,” De Boer told the Daily Mail, after being sacked by Inter Milan after only three months.

“But the project has to be right."
De Boer was offered the Liverpool manager job when the club parted company with Kenny Dalglish, but instead they ended up with Brendan Rodgers and the Dutchman stayed at Ajax.

"I told Liverpool I was honoured but I was only one year in at Ajax, it was too soon. I needed to achieve more, and I did."

With Claudio Ranieri having been sacked by Leicester City on Thursday evening, De Boer is hot favourite to take the now vacant manager job.
