Didi not fit

Hamann injured ligaments in his knee in the Merseyside derby. It was hoped he would recover in time for Wednesday's game but today Rafael Benitez confirmed that Hamann would miss out. However, the boss is hopeful the German midfielder will be available for the second leg a week later.

Harry Kewell has also failed to recover from injury in time to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
