Diomede glad to be free

The French winger failed to live up to expectations after his £3 million move from Auxerre to Liverpool in the summer of 2000.

He made only five first team appearances in his time at Anfield and was loaned out to French side Ajaccio last January.

"I'm happy to be free to make my own decisions," said Diomede. "While I was at Auxerre and Liverpool I was unable to do that, but now I can talk to clubs directly.

"I may or may not stay with Ajaccio, but I want to remain in France. I accept that the chance to move to a big club has ended."
