Gerard Houllier has already made it clear that the 22-year-old will be made unavailable for the Anfield tie in order to avoid any potential crowd trouble.
UEFA spokesman Mike Lee, though, insists UEFA will still continue to decide what punishment they deem to be suitable.
Lee said:"We are aware of Liverpool's decision but we would still like to deal with the case ahead of the second leg.
"We are aiming to conclude that investigation and present it to the disciplinary committee and we expect to publish the decision on Tuesday or Wednesday morning."
