Diouf knows the score

The 22-year-old Senegal international hasn't managed to score for the Reds since he hit the target against Boxing day opponents Bolton some nine months ago.

While such a poor record in front of goal would be a worry to most £10m players, Diouf insists that his work for the team should not be overshadowed by his failure to live up to his 'serial killer' tag.

Diouf, speaking to LFC Magazine, said: "I want to score. But for the moment I have been making some goals and causing some problems to other teams.

"To be honest I'm not worring about scoring goals. The most important thing for me is the team wins and that I can make a contribution on the field.

"Don't forget that I'm not being used as a striker anymore. Before I used to score more goals. Whenever I have played I would either be played as a main striker or behind the strikers.

"But today I'm in midfield, which means I have got to be solid in my defensive work as well as giving of my best in an attacking capacity."
