The Senegalese star has had a mixed start to the season, giving a number of inspired performances and an equal amount of ineffectual ones.

But Diouf says he'll be back to his best once he recovers from an exhausting seventy game season last year, and laughed off a report linking him to French side Marseille.

He said: "I often phone my friends back home in Dakar and they tell me people are saying I'm going to be transferred to Marseille.

"But I've never spoken about a transfer and I don't think the club will try to sell me so soon after making such a financial commitment to bring me here."

"I'm not on form at the moment. I lacked freshness at the start of the season because of all the energy I used up at the World Cup.

"I played over 70 games last season and I didn't have a holiday, but I don't doubt my ability.

"I've been working hard since arriving at Liverpool and I know the manager has faith in me, so I'm not worried."
