Diouf is suffering from a soft tissue infection in his knee that seems set to deny the Reds his services this weekend.
Liverpool spokesman Ian Cotton said: "El Hadji Diouf is a major doubt for the weekend game with Fulham after contracting a soft tissue infection in his left shin. The player is currently undergoing intensive treatment for the complaint."
