Don't blame Houllier

Defeats to Charlton and Portsmouth have left Liverpool languishing in 10th place in the Premiership, 12 points behind the leaders Arsenal.

"That can only last for so long," the new captain said of the patience showed by the fans thus far.

"At some stage they are going to get fed up with us and start dishing out some stick. I think they have been supportive beyond the call of duty.

"But it's nonsense to start talking about the manager and his position. At the end of the day it's down to the way we performon the pitch."

Back him... or sack him?
