Dudek admits improvement is needed

Liverpool's defeat to Birmingham at the weekend was their tenth of the season but Dudek has urged his team-mates to stay positive and work on improving their consistency.

"It was a very disappointing result, especially with Everton losing to Chelsea earlier in the day because we had a great chance to close the gap on them. We knew it was going to be difficult for Everton to get something from their game and we've failed to capitalise. Everyone is really disappointed but we must keep our heads up and look forward," said Dudek.

"On the bright side the gap between ourselves and Everton has not got any wider. We would have liked it to be smaller but that was not to be. We just have to keep going and hopefully we will catch them. We still have to play them at home and there are lot of points to play for between now and the end of the season. We also know that Everton have some tough games coming up but first of all we must look at ways that we can improve.

"I don't think our performance was as bad as the one against Southampton a few weeks ago where we only started to play when we were two down. We knew that Birmingham would play a lot of long balls and that we had to be ready to win all the second balls. We didn't do that right and paid the price. After they scored their two goals it was very difficult for us to get back into the match.

"At half-time we had belief that we could still win the game because we have come back from a 2-0 deficit before. But Birmingham were compact and aggressive and gave us no chances. They played very well and made it hard for us to create any chances."
