The Polish keepers name was sung throughout the match by an adoring Kop, and Dudek described that feeling as one of the best of his career.

Dudek said:"In the last seven years I have never had a spell like this. I just have to make sure I come out of the bad period as soon as possible and I know I will have the backing of everyone at the club to help me do that."

"I know they won't let me be alone. They will be right there with me to help me. Without doubt this has been the toughest spell of my career."

"I have analysed my last few days, last few weeks, last few months and even last few years and I realise I have been so lucky in my career so far."

"I've never known anything like this before. My friends from Poland have been sending me texts telling me that the sun doesn't shine every day. It has been tough, very tough, but I'm confident I'll get through it."

"I saw Salif Diao after the game and he had a red shirt on under his top which said 'Jerzy - You'll Never Walk Alone'."

"Last night was fantastic. It was one of the best nights of my career. It wasn't easy for me to play after a few bad games but the fans were brilliant."

"Everyone gave me confidence and they didn't let me down. I didn't expect the reception the fans gave me last night."

"There is something special about this club and the boss told me before the game that I don't yet know or understand how special our fans are. He told me they would make sure I wasn't walking alone and I saw that for myself. It was so emotional."
