Dudek happier working with Benitez

Dudek believes that the change of management at the club has relaxed the players and they are now ready to go about improving on last season's point tally.

He said: "Last year was quite depressing. When the team is not doing well it is difficult for everyone, not just the coaches.

"When the team is doing well the atmosphere is immediately different. That helps to get results. Now we have much more freshness in the training. The coach wants us up for it, to play quicker and to have some kind of idea of what we're doing.

"Everything takes time, to learn new things, but I think it is getting better and better. Everyone is trying to make an impression on the new coach and maybe that is why everyone is so positive.

"The new manager is more relaxed. I think everyone is enjoying it more. A goalkeeper needs to be relaxed to make great saves in games and in training, to have a clear mind about his position. It is not good going into a match thinking: 'If I make a mistake what will happen?' That doesn't help me or Chris (Kirkland).

"That's how I felt last season - but that time is gone. We have a new coach and new things to learn. I am more happy now."
