Dudek laments misfortune

The Pole accidentally pushed the ball into the path of Fulham's masked wally Facuno Sava after a long range strike by Sean Davis at the weekend, and it was a mistake that contributed to a costly 3-2 defeat for the Reds.

But Dudek regards himself as 'unlucky' in Liverpool's recent fixtures, and is at a loss to explain why every mistake made is so ruthlessly capatilised on.

He told Icons: "To be honest, I think I have been a bit unlucky in some of our recent games. I don't deny that it is a big responsibility to be a goalkeeper, but there are some days when you feel good but are just unlucky in everything you do. You have to overcome this. I hope it's finished now. I intend to use what has happened to stimulate me. I will tell myself that I must show everybody that what has been said about me has helped me.

"Naturally, I look for reasons why things are happening now which weren't happening before. It has been written that my 'problems' started after I had signed my new contract. I don't know the significance of that, and so it is not even worth a comment."

And Dudek is aiming to put an end to his uneasy recent run of form, by doubling his efforts in training and overcoming his problems through sheer hard work.

"After the World Cup, people were saying that players could feel tired and so on. Personally I felt good - and I still do. I don't feel tired. But I have spoken to other players who went to the World Cup, who are experiencing something similar to me. They tell me that they feel good and that they are doing everything right, but that sometimes things haven't gone for them in games.

"You can have bad luck, but I believe you can help to break that bad luck by working hard. That is what I am trying to do now."
