"I don't believe there is a better Polish keeper than Jerzy and I was really sad when I heard he wasn't in the squad," said the Liverpool boss.
"I had been speaking to Jerzy and I knew how much it meant to him to go to the World Cup. He played in a number of games for us in the second part of the season and did very well, so I can't understand the decision."
