Rangers and Celtic may be invited to join the elite G-14 group of clubs.
The option to invite them was recently discussed and Liverpool, along with Europe's other major clubs, believe the Old Firm would be ideal members.
General manager Thomas Kurth said: "It has been discussed and Rangers and Celtic have demonstrated their interest and asked for membership. There are a number of good reasons why they could become good members.
"They have excellent facilities, they are very well managed financially, and are both clubs with huge supports. There is nothing which would discredit them."
