Emile looking for goals

The 25-year-old England international has been the subject of growing criticism from both the media and fans alike since he joined Gerard Houllier's side for a record £11m almost three years ago.

While the former Leicester man may not surprise many with his admission that he is not a player in the style of Anfield colleague Michael Owen, he has vowed to ease the burden firmly placed on the shoulders of his striking partner.

Heskey, speaking to LFC Magazine, said: "People say how I should be playing my game, but no-one knows what I can or can't do better than me. Everyone's got an opinion on how the game should be played and what I should be doing, but the only one that counts is my own.

"Of course I want to score more goals. Michael Owen is the main striker here and he gets the majority of the goals. I look to get bits and pieces from him.

"We rely on him a lot, but, yes, I would like to score more goals myself, and hopefully I will. There's not much I can change, I mean I'm not going to be a Michael Owen. I'm not Michael Owen I'm Emile, and I've just got to get on with my own game."
