England Beaten

Peter Crouch appeared to give England the perfect start after only two minutes when he slotted home a pass from Spurs' Aaron Lennon but the goal was disallowed for offside.

England took the lead after former Red Michael Owen saw his header come back off the bar to Jermaine Jenas who had a simple tap in for 1-0.

England led until the 53rd minute when Belarus scored an easy equaliser. Goalkeeper Robert Green had ruptured his groin making a save moments earlier and when he tried to take a free kick he collapsed in agony and allowed Belarus to tap the equaliser into an empty net. Green was replaced by Liverpool's Scott Carson.

Belarus were reduced to ten men before the end but England couldn't take advantage and lost the game when Kornilenko scored the winner with nine minutes remaining.

Jamie Carragher played the full 90 minutes for England while Crouch lasted 78 minutes before being subsituted. Both players, along with Carson gave a good account of themselves during the match.
