The FA confirmed the decision to cancel the game due to three nights of rioting in the capital on their website yesterday afternoon. Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing and Dirk Kuyt will now return to Melwood to train with the Reds ahead of the Premiership opener against Sunderland this Saturday.
