Glen Johnson played the full 90 minutes as ten man England suffered their first defeat of the qualifying campaign, going down 1-0 in the Dnipro Stadium. Steven Gerrard only played the first 45 minutes before being subsituted at half-time with a suspected groin injury.

Andriy Voronin was an unused subsitute for Ukraine.
