Eriksson said: "Since I came to this country Steven Gerrard has always been a great player. He could play for sure in any team in the world. He's a complete player.
"The difference between when I came and now is that he seems to be a very happy young man. He smiles and talks much more than he did two years ago. That's merit to him and the club he plays for."
