Evans hopes for cup win

The former Liverpool manager believes the romance of the cup is still alive and hopes the Reds can overcome Luton in the third round on Sunday before going all the way and winning the competition in May.

"All of our supporters want to win the Premier League because we haven't done it yet and we would love to win the Champions League again because that's seen as the ultimate accolade, but the FA Cup is a great trophy and it's still a very special competition," said Evans.

"You try and win every competition you enter. I think Liverpool have got a decent draw in Luton and hopefully we can down there and do a good job.

"Liverpool have done very well in cup competitions under Rafa. The only real time we slipped up was the Burnley game when he picked a team which wasn't good enough on the day. I don't think he will make that same mistake again and hopefully we can win the game comfortably.

"What we do need more of is goals. Liverpool have been creating chances but they haven't been scoring enough goals. The problem has been if Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard aren't scoring then nobody else has thrown their hat into the ring.

"If we are going to win the cup and have success this season then we need more people to score goals and help out."
