KopTalk can exclusively reveal that Liverpool are monitoring Stoke City teenager Kris Commons.

Assistant manager Phil Thompson travelled to Stoke today to see them take on Norwich and the 18-year-old picked the right time to impress as he scored his first league goal and salvaged a point for Stoke who were losing 1-0 up until the 74th minute.

Despite only making a handful of appearances, Commons has already started to draw attention to himself and Phil Thompson wasn't the only Premiership representative at today's game to see him in action.

Kop Talk managed to track down Rob Stanway, editor of Stoke City Mad, to seek his opinion of the player in question.

"Common's has come on very well, he's only young - just come up through our Academy Setup," said Stanway.

"He likes to take on players and has been doing it very well so far this season.

"He is very good at dribbling past players and crossing, corner kicks, long throw ins the lot. He also scored a fantastic goal today which he set up by taking on one or two players, running past, knocking the ball to Cooke, a one-two played back into his path and he squeezed the shot into the bottom right corner."

Liverpool have obviously received glowing reports about Commons to be honoured with a visit for Thompson but would he be available should the Reds decide to make a move for him?

"Stoke wouldn't be eager to sell and it would cause outrage amongst the fans," added Stanway.
