Liverpool have surprisingly decided to release two of the club's most talented youngsters - Alan Coupe and Neil Prince - following rumours of a "difference of opinion" between the youth coaches and first-team set-up.

The versatile Coupe and the left-sided winger Prince have been told by Liverpool to find new clubs.

Coupe has been at the club since he was ten while Prince has spent the last ten years with the club, representing England at all levels up to and including the Under-19's.

A host of clubs including Manchester United, Everton, Newcastle and Villa have been alerted and they will all have scouts at Anfield this evening.

It's not all bad news though. Irish midfielder Michael Sheridan-Foley will be promoted to Melwood next season. So too will England youth international Jon Otsemobor and goal-scoring sensation Neil Mellor. The trio have all been offered contracts.

It should be pointed out that Liverpool make every effort to find new clubs for those youngsters who are not retained.
