Heskey gave the Liverpool back line a torrid time on Saturday and won the penalty that sent Birmingham on their way to a 2-0 win but despite the Reds' poor performance at the weekend, Heskey still believes they will overhaul Everton and claim the final Champions League spot.

"I think they can still finish fourth. I wish them all the best and I hope that they can get it," said Heskey.

"Every time I have played against my old clubs, I have wanted to do well. When I was at Liverpool I wanted to do well and beat Leicester whenever we played them, so it was no different to that.

"I still get on well with the players and everyone shook my hand after the game. I think the result was more about us than about Liverpool. Our performance was brilliant.

"We did not let them get into us, because if you give them the chance to pass the ball then they can break teams down."
