Damiano worked under Houllier for the French Under 18s, taking the team to the 1996 Under 18 European Championships, which they won, before moving to the Premiership with Fulham.
He then moved to Anfield after securing promotion for Fulham, but his services were not needed after the departure of Houllier last summer.
