Ex-Red takes charge at Walsall

Money was a fringe player at Anfield who made just 17 first team appearances for the Reds. The most important of these was the 1981 European Cup semi-final second leg at Bayern Munich where he helped the Reds to the 1-1 draw that saw them progress to the final.

Since retiring through injury Money has managed Scunthorpe, Sweden's AIK Stockholm and Vasteras in Sweden. He has also coached at Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and Coventry.

"I could have stayed with Newcastle Jets or moved to a top job in New Zealand. However, when the chance of the Walsall job became available and the opportunity to return to British football, it was a very easy decision to make," said Money.

"My task here is very straightforward - to get this club back into League One and to do it next season. There can be no guarantees, but let me just say that if I did not believe I could accomplish this task, I would not be coming here."
