Ex-Reds linked with Wales job

With current boss Mark Hughes in charge of his final game tomorrow the search has begun for his successor and Toshack and Rush, along with Bolton's Gary Speed are the favourites.

Toshack is said to be the Welsh FA's preferred choice but he has been critical of the players and Hughes' tactics recently and is disliked by many of the senior players.

Rush has the same UEFA coaching qualifications as Gerard Houllier, has impressed the Welsh FA with his work with the under 17's team and Chester City are currently unbeaten since Rushie took over. Chester chairman Stephen Vaughan has told the WFA that he would allow Rush to take the Wales job on a part-time basis.
