Far East fervour for Reds

Shinawatra's offer to inject £65m into the club in exchange for a 30% share in the Merseyside giants has awoken interest in the title hopes of the Reds for next season.

With housing magnate Steve Morgan launching a counter-bid, Ladbrokes expect Liverpool's 20-1 odds to drop even further as the frenzied speculation continues to grow.

Ladbrokes spokesman Warren Lush said: " An injection of money into a club is commonly followed by an injection of money at the bookmakers. Punters have been backing Liverpool with three and four figure sums but the gap between them and the big three is still very wide.

"Some of the money we have seen has been from the Far East, particularly Thailand, but there has also been bets from Merseyside."
