Rafael Benitez is being linked with a £3m move for the 20-year-old defender, but the Hammers have moved quickly to dismiss the rumours.

"These rumours are utter nonsense," said West Ham's legal director Scott Duxbury.

"He was a vital part of the side that won promotion and our aim is to now build on that side and take the club forward on the pitch."
