The Manchester United boss refused to criticise his team for defeat in Cardiff, and praised Jerzy Dudek for his performance to help Liverpool to victory in the Worthington Cup Final.

"They got the break in the first half - the deflection," he said. "In the second half their goalkeeper was absolutely fantastic.

"I don't know how many saves he made but he was fantastic."
"It's one of those days where their goalkeeper has excelled."

When asked about the recent pressure on Gerard Houllier, the red-faced Scotsman didn't let us down: "I don't know where the criticism has come from but I think he has done fantastic."
