"It was a shame because we deserved to win the game. It would have been great to win our first three matches of the season and to have six points on the board from two games, but it wasn't to be," said the Republic of Ireland international.
"I don't think it was a penalty. Their player ran into me and went down and none of their lads appealed.
"I couldn't believe it when he gave the decision. When I heard the whistle I thought he must have given offside against Drogba at the far post or something. I certainly never thought it could have been a penalty.
"It's bitterly disappointing and of course the lads were upset after the game because we should have won."
