The former Fulham defender, who was one of Gerard Houllier's final signings at the club, struggled to show his best form in a turbulent first campaign on Merseyside, but he has vowed to prove his worth to new boss Rafael Benitez.
Finnan, speaking to the club's official website, said: "Am I worried about the arrival of Josemi? Yes and no! It's good competition for everyone. Everyone is under pressure with their position as it's a fresh start with the new manager but whoever he brings in will benefit the squad."
