Finnan wants top spot

If Liverpool beat PSV Eindhoven at Anfield tonight they are guarenteed to top Group C regardless of what they do in Istanbul in two weeks time. Steve Finnan is the latest player to insist Liverpool will put a strong side out tonight so they can go into the last sixteen as top seeds.

"It's important to win the game, we'll be disappointed if we don't," said the Irish international.

"Obviously if we do we'll be top of the group. But you never know how the draw is going to pan out.

"It was quite an even game out there, both teams had a few chances. They're a good team and they're doing well in the Dutch league at the moment, so it's a difficult game."
