Two football fans charged with carrying out a sex attack on a Spanish prostitute have been released on bail.

Liverpool supporters Steven Davies and Andrew Jones are thought to have flown back to Britain after paying a surety of 1,000 euros (£600).

The men were arrested by Spanish police in March before Liverpool's Champions' League clash with Barcelona which ended 0-0.

They were quizzed after a prostitute claimed to have been sexually assaulted and robbed in the toilet of a bar off the Ramblas - one of the Catalan city's main thoroughfares.

Father-of-three Davies, 38, of Netherley, and Jones, 25, a postman from Wavertree, both Liverpool, were charged with sexual aggression and robbery and detained in a Spanish jail.

A spokesman for the Foreign Office confirmed they have been released on bail by a Spanish judge.
