Former England ace backs Gerrard to do the job

Former England ace Chris Waddle believes Steven Gerrard can replace David Beckham on the right-hand side of midfield during this summer's World Cup finals if Golden Balls misses out through injury.

While the nation continues to insult the rest of the England squad by stating that we have no chance now that Beckham is injured, Waddle believes there's no need to panic because Gerrard can play the same role.

"I have watched him regularly and England have a great player, " said Waddle.

"When I saw him on Saturday playing on the right my immediate reaction was he is an ideal replacement for Beckham if he is injured.

"There are a lot of variations available but Gerrard has the flair to play out in that position if necessary. And he would be a great success because he is a wonderful player."
