Former Red backs defensive duo

Wright, who is now the manager of Conference side Chester City, has seen enough of both players to believe that they can handle the unique atmosphere of a Merseyside derby.

Wright said: "How well Biscan and Traore cope with Wayne Rooney and Kevin Campbell will be very important. Liverpool are weakened without Sami Hyypia and Stephane Henchoz but both Traore and Biscan have the ability to compete.

"I have been impressed with Djimi Traore this season, and having seen Biscan play for Liverpool's reserves at Chester, I would have no qualms about playing them both."
